Presiding judge over the alleged money laundering charges against the former chairman of Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina has ordered the arrest of the ex-pension boss.
This order was given following the absentia of the accused on a four consecutive succession dates without any pertinent nor verifiable evidence.
The prosecuting counsel, Lawyer, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mohammed Abubakar brought to the notice of the court that absenteeism from Court proceedings for four successions attracts arrest of the accused.
Concurring to the prosecutor’s notice, the Judge, Okon Abang ordered the immediate arrest of Mr Maina by all means and revoked bail offered him.
Before his trial, Marina was remanded at the Kuje Correctional center for 7 months but was granted bail of 500 million Naira with a surety in like sum who must be a serving senator. Senator Ndume agreed to stand surety for him but the absence of Abdulrasheed Maina for four successions nullified the bail.
