Enugu police parade 12-year-old boy’s suspected killer

The Enugu state police command has paraded a 25-year-old man thought to be linked to the kidnap and murder of a 12-year-old boy and other 38 suspected criminals arrested for various crimes in Enugu state.
Commissioner of police in the state, Mr. Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, who briefed newsmen on activities of the command in the last one month at the command’s headquarters in Enugu over the weekend said the criminal suspects were apprehended in different parts of the state for their involvement in various criminal acts.
Among the 39 suspects was a middle-aged man, who identified himself as Nasir Adda who was arrested for kidnapping and killing of his neighbour’s child after collecting a N400,000 ransom.
The Enugu police boss, also disclosed that a total of 10 fire arms, 12 motor vehicles, 4 tricycles, 36 SIM cards, among others, were recovered within the period under review. Aliyu who attributed the achievement recorded to inter agency collaboration and information sharing, however, warned criminals to quit the state, saying there would be no hiding place for them under his command.
“During our last meeting, I told you that we are making conscious efforts to put in place policing strategies that we require to effectively police the state, in view of maintaining public security. It will interest you to know that these strategies have resulted in successes” he declared.
According to the CP, the arrest “was as a result of sustained synergy with sister security agencies, the neighbourhood watch group, security stakeholders and law-abiding citizens of the state.”
