User-friendly infrastructure critical to effective learning – UBEC Director
By Gabriel Chy Alonta
Mr. Abubakar Sa’ad, Director, Physical Planning, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), says user-friendly infrastructure is critical to effective learning in schools.
This is contained in a statement by Mr David Apeh, UBEC head of public relations and protocol, on Sunday, in Abuja.
Sa’ad, an engineer, who was recently conferred with a fellowship award by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), said there was a strong link between infrastructural facilities and effective learning.
He stressed that he was passionate to ensuring that infrastructural facilities in Nigerian schools were “designed to be user-friendly to promote effective teaching and learning.”
The director, who is currently co-ordinating the establishment of the first set of “smart schools” in public primary schools, across Nigeria, said it was a user-friendly project embarked upon by UBEC.
He noted that the “smart schools” would have friendly, state-of-the-art Information Communication Technology (ICT) facilities, among other things, for effective teaching and learning.
On the award conferred on him by NSE, the director said it would spur him to do greater work in UBEC and the country at large.
Sa’ad is an accomplished civil engineer and an astute administrator, involved in design and supervision of projects, including UBEC zonal offices, the Digital Resource Centre and UBEC office extension.
