The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) suspended the indefinite strike it started on April 6, 2021. The suspension will take effective today, June 10, 2021.
The decision was reached after over 74 per cent of members voted in a meeting that the union suspends its strike.
In a memo signed by the ASUP general secretary, Shamma Kpanja, all acedemic staff in polytechnics nationwide were directed to resume work Thursday June 10, 2021.
The suspension is predicated on a memorandum of action the union reached with the federal government, the paper learnt.
The release indicated that national executive council will appraise the result after three months within which it is expected that the federal government would have met the conditions.
Kpanja indicated that chapters that violated ASUP constitution shall be subjected to the provisions of the constitution.
