The director general, Delta State Traffic Management Agency (DESTMA), Commander Azubuike Idah Rtd, has described as malicious online news reports that one of its officers was shot dead by gunmen in Ughelli.
Commander Idah said: “As regards the subject of killing which they reported happened in Ughelli market, I want to tell you that nothing like that happened. No DESTMA Officer was shot recently in Ughelli,” he stressed.
He advised journalist, especially online reporters, to be objective, factual, carrying out their duties with a clean and clear conscience, instead of trying to cause unrest or malign an agency that was involved in sanitising the society. The DG lamented the lack of regulations for the online reporters, adding that it would benefit them if they could use their news platform to develop the society.
