FG Should allow Kanu, Igboho explain their actions – Maharaji Ji
Ojo Peter, Ibadan
The founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has appealed to the Federal Government to allow the leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to explain the reason behind his action of fighting the government.
Satguru Maharaj Ji advocated the same gesture should be given to Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, whose house in Ibadan, was recently raided by men of Department of State Services (DSS) few weeks ago.
He said that he abhorred violence against the government, but equally suggested that the government should allow them explain why they took the action they took against the government, so that Nigeria would be seen as a mature country.
Speaking at an interactive session with the media in Lagos at the weekend, Maharaj Ji posited: ” If you checked since the day I started this missionary service, I have told everybody that violence is not the key. I was in the East and I told the elders, you can’t go to war, you need peace.
“The same way for Kanu. To establish a radio station and use it to be attacking government is wrong, you don’t attack elders; you should explain. We should give honour to whom honour is due.
“For Igboho, I have not heard anywhere that he killed anybody. Government should give them chance to say something. I don’t know more than I have read in the newspapers. So, for peace to reign, they should be given a chance to explain, for the world to know that we have matured as a country. Nigeria remains the giant of Africa.”
On his alleged arrest by the men of DSS after a raid on Igboho’s house, at Soka, Ibadan, Maharaj Ji denied the arrest, saying he had been in Lagos for the past two to three weeks.
“I have been in Lagos for almost two weeks now and no DSS has arrested me. I wasn’t in Ibadan when Igboho’s house was raided. I was in Lagos, and I have been in Lagos for the past few weeks trying to organise programme to rebuild our structure here in Lagos. Anybody saying I was arrested, is not saying the truth.”
On the attempt by some land grabbers to take part of his Ibadan property on Ibadan-Lagos Expressway, he said he had got judgements in his favour on the land, but that the land grabbers are, however, encroaching on the land using some policemen to achieve their aim forcefully.
He warned some elements in the police to desist from accosting the land grabbers to forcefully take possession of his land, saying the actions of these policemen is to give government bad name.
