Police nab three for stealing four-year-old baby in Ebonyi

The police in Ebonyi state said it has arrested three persons in connection with the stealing of a four -year- old Miracle Emmanuel, who was stolen at Umuniko-Isu in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi state.

Orient Daily learnt that the baby thieves, a woman and three men, broke into the house of Emmanuel Chukwu and stole his child.

It was further gathered that it was the alarm raised by Emmanuel that led to the trailing of the suspected bay thieves and subsequent recovery of the baby.

The Ebonyi state police public relation officer, Odah Loveth, who confirmed the incident, expressed worry over the increasing case of child theft in Onicha local government area, and begged members of the public to be security.

“One Emmanuel Chukwu of Amaeke, UmunikoIsu of Onicha local government area of Ebonyi state came to the police station and reported that around 2am in the morning, while he was sleeping in his house, three men suspected to be Onyekachi Innocent, Amaechi Udo and one other person unknown to him, came to their house at Amata in OnichaIgbeze, broke into the house and stole his child, one Miracle Emmanuel, about four years old.

“He raised an alarm and his neighbors came out, chased the suspect and the child was recovered. The policemen went to the scene and on searching the scene of the crime, one canvass shoe, two handsets and one Keystone motorcycle with registration number UDD 422 JW were recovered.

“There suspects have been arrested, which include a woman and two men and one other, who is said to have a restaurant in that area.  But one of them confessed that they went to the house to steal the baby.

“And in recent times, we have been having issues of child theft at OnichaIgbeze. This time around, luck ran out of them following the alarm raised by this family, which attracted neighbors which made them to abandon their two phones and motorcycle.

“If they had succeeded, it would have been another problem. Families have to be very conscious. Children are not properties that someone can keep elsewhere and be somewhere else. If this child was not sleeping with an adult, they would have perfected their plan. We are begging the member of the public to be conscious of their children”, Odah warned.
