Inspector Kennet Enamika, a police officer attached to the 29 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Awka, in Anambra State, has allegedly gunned down a couple before killing himself during acrimonious spat over failed marriage with a lady.
Orient Weekend gathered that the remains of Inspector Enamika, Mrs Oluchi Aputanze and Mr Cajethan Aputanze, were found at the scene of the tragic incident at Mgbidi in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State, by police officers from the Oru West Divisional Police Headquarters, on March 22, 2020.
According to an official police report of the incident, signed by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, the incident occurred at about 2:45pm when the deceased police officer gunned down the couple with an AK 47 riffle before ending his own life with the same weapon.
Ikeokwu further disclosed that the AK 47 riffle used for the murder was recovered from the scene, as well as a note written by the police officer declaring his intention to kill Oluchi and Cajethan Aputanze.
Enamika, it was gathered, had perfected plans to kill himself after killing Mrs Oluchi Aputanze, who allegedly obtained the sum of N150,000 from him on the pretext that she was single and accepted to marry him. However, the bubble busted when the police officer discovered that Oluchi was actually married to Mr Cajethan Aputanze.
“In an effort to recover his money, Cajethan Aputanze (Oluchi’s husband) threatened to kill him through diabolical means, as a result, he resorted to self help, which led to the murder and suicide”, Ikeokwu explained, adding that the remains of the couple and the police officer had been deposited in the morgue, while police kick off investigation.
