Residents of Nsukka have been thrown into mourning following a robbery attack that claimed the life of 28 years old man simply identified as Coach.
Orient Weekend gathered that the incident occurred at about 5pm on November 23 at Ero community, along the MCC road, close to Shalom Academy.
Emmanuel Eze, the younger brother of the victim, Amaechi Eze, had gone to buy some crates of beer for his business when he was accosted by two young men, who came in with Okada and asked that he submitted the money he came to buy drinks with.
When Amechi told them that he had no money in him, one of the robbers pulled a gun pointing at his head and asked him for the money the second time. When he would not, he shut him straight on the head and they zoomed off.
Another witness, who pleaded anonymity, said she suspected a foul play immediately the robbers arrived.
“I was sitting with my friend, when suddenly two boys arrived on a bike and demanded to cash from the chop owner; but what surprised me is that it seems the deceased knew one of the robbers, because, immediately they wanted to leave, they sighted him and stopped only for us to hear gun shot.
Emmanuel added that when he was taken to hospital, he was confirmed dead and his corpse deposited at St Theresa Mortuary, Nsukka.
Meanwhile, as at time of filing this report, the Police Relation Officer, Sp Enere Amarizu, could not be reached on phone for further reactions on the matter.
