Suspected Fulani herdsmen abduct four passengers in Ogun

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen abducted four travellers at Olubo Village along Ayetoro-Ilara Road in Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun state on Tuesday night.
This sparked off protest among residents of Olubo and others, including Idi-emi, Imeko-Afon, Ilara as they blocked the road, causing traffic gridlock which left so many travellers stranded.
The abduction was coming barely a week that a business woman, Roselyn Edusi, and her guest were kidnapped in Omu Ofada in Obafemi Owode local government area of the state
Orient Daily learnt that five other passengers who were travelling in the same Toyota Avensis Commercial SUV with number plate FFF 654 TK were spared.
Two of those spared, Iswat Akewugberu and Rofiat Oladeinde told our correspondent that incident occurred around 8:00pm on Tuesday night.
They said they were accosted by four gunmen, who shot into the air.
The two passengers explained that the gunmen abducted the driver and three women who were selected randomly among the passengers.
They said the abductors spared one Fulani and two Hausa passengers among them.
According to Oladeinde, “They collected our money and our handsets before they led the captives into the forest.”
Meanwhile, the assistant commissioner of police, operations of the state police command, Muritala Bolanle had arrived at the spot where the victims were kidnapped.
He arrived the scene at exactly 12 noon in a police helicopter marked 5N-GEJ, promising that they would arrest the abductors.
“We are going after the abductors; that is why we are here. We shall definitely get them.” he said.
