An officer with Benue command of national security and civil defence corps identified as Cynthia Onche, whose body was on Monday found dead in Obi local government area of Benue state.
It was gathered that the officer, who was attached to Oturkpo local government, allegedly declared missing on her duty post until the deceased found outside her area of jurisdiction.
Orient Daily checks could not establish what led to the death of the victim, even as command’s public relations officer, Michael Ejelikwu, declined to comment on the incident.
However, another superior officer in the command, who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the development, saying “investigation is already going on in the affected areas to unravel the circumstances which led to the death of the officer.”
Meanwhile, suspected cult groups had a clash resulting in the death of eight persons while 18 others sustained multiple injuries, including from gunshots at Onyagede in Ohimini local government area last Monday.
Speaking on the development with journalists in conversation on the upsurge, former council chairman, Mr. Musa Alechenu, said the cult war was between Vikings and Axe and that the fight lasted five days.
According to Alechenu, the matter was reported to the law enforcement agents in the area, adding that efforts were being intensified to forestall reoccurrence of cult activities within the council.
