Native doctor, 19 others paraded for alleged car snatching, robbery, fake drugs

The Anambra state police command has paraded a native doctor and 19 other suspects for allegedly involving in car snatching, manufacturing of fake drugs, kidnapping and armed robbery.
According the police, the native doctor, David Akor, an indigene of Idah, in Kogi state, was apprehended by the command for allegedly concocting “the power” with which other suspects operate.
Akor, however, told newsmen that he never committed the offence but was only set up by some unnamed enemies.
The Anambra state Police Commissioner, Garba Umar, who paraded the suspects at the command headquarters in Awka, maintained that the native doctor and others would be charged to court after investigation.
Umar named another suspect as Francis Azokuta (aged 35), alleged manufacturer of fake and adulterated drugs. He was said to have been arrested at Iyiowa in Odekpe in Ogbaru local government area. He said, one Christian Ojechi of Abor village, Ogidi in Idemili North local government area reported that armed men operating with about four motorcycles snatched from him a Mercedes Benz SUV model 350 with Registration No LAGOS FST 141 FB when he stopped to buy something in a shop along Abatete road by Ogidi Boys Secondary School Ogidi.
“In the course of investigation, Monday Odi, 35, resident in Ghana, Monday Chita 28 of School of Health Technology, Obosi, Somtochukwu Ani, 30, of Nkwelle village Ogidi, David Akoi, 30, of Abor village Umusiome Nkpor and Sunday Nwafor, 30, also of School of Health Technology, Obosi were arrested,” he disclosed.
Others arrested for the similar offence were Johnson Aerfa, Chibueze Ebenyi , said to be the ring leader and from Usho village, Ondo state, as well as Chibuike Ugwu.
The state police commissioner, while noting that car snatching syndicates operating at various parts of the state were arrested by officers at different locations of Anambra state, said that, in the process, eleven exotic cars, fake drugs, arms and ammunition, among others, were recovered from the suspects. He named these cars as Lexus jeep, Mercedes Benz jeep, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, among others.
He thanked the public for releasing useful information which led to arrest of the suspects, adding that the police will not relent its constitutional duties to sustain the tempo of the fight against crime and criminality in the state and protection of lives and properties.
