Covid 19: Rotary club donates personal hygiene products to 10 PHC in FCT
The Rotary Club of Garki has donated personal hygiene products to 10 Primary Health Care (PHC) Centres in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Mr Osehi Uduebar, President of the club, during the presentation of the items at the PHC centre in Aleita community, Airport road, Abuja, said the items were donated to support the Federal Government’s effort in containing the coronavirus (Covid-19)
“The items hand washing buckets, hand sanitizers and other things will be distributed to other nine centres within AMAC, this is the first tranche we are putting into the fight.
” After the two months, we will be stepping up with financial and material support because the PHC is the first line of defence against epidemic like the covid 19,” he said.
Uduebar called on well- meaning Nigerians to see the pandemic as a wake up call to assist in any way they can as government cannot do it alone.
Also speaking, Mrs Rahmat Abdullahi, AMAC Secretary, thanked the club members for their support saying that the country would definitely overcome the present challenge.
She called on Nigerians to stay at home as such would go a long way in preventing the virus from spreading.
Responding, Mrs Modupe Adeyinka, Director, PHC AMAC, urged Nigerians to work together to overcome the pandemic.
“In the rural areas you will see people going about their businesses. We need to sensitise them more on the pandemic.
” There is also need for relevant agencies to properly inform people about the virus rather than leave Nigerians in the hands of social media,” Adeyinka said.
Responding, the Chief of Aleita, Mr Ibrahim Gajatna appreciated the club saying that the items would be used for the people.
Gakatna said town criers would be deployed to the community to sensitise the people on Covid-19. (NAN)
