The Anglican Bishop of Amichi diocese in Anambra state, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor has asked President Mohammadu Buhari to resign and hand over power to his vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in order to move the nation forward.
He said taking the path of honor by stepping aside would not only make the president a great elder statesman, but would also prolong his years.
Fielding questions from newsmen in Onitsha, yesterday, the cleric argued that governance as a responsibility, is so enormous and demanding for the president to shoulder with his current health condition.
“What you call governance at that level is so demanding and we can’t pretend about it. Our president is old and his health is failing him.
“We want him to live long as an elder statesman and in order to help him, we advise him to trade the route of honour by stepping aside so he can offer advice to those in authority” he added.
He described the call for his resignation as pastoral which was borne out of love and empathy.
