FIDA Family Law Centre commissioned in Anambra

A magnificent structure that will serve as the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Family Center, has been commissioned in Anambra State, Orient Daily Reports. 

The new centre, located behind the Anambra State Judiciary Headquarters, Awka, was flagged open amidst fanfare during the first Quarter National Executive Committee meeting in Anambra State.

Commissioning the centre, the Country Vice President (CVP) and President of FIDA Nigeria, Rhoda Prevail Tyoden said that the centre will provide succour to the  downtrodden who are being denied justice in the state.

According to her, the Centre built by FIDA Anambra State Chapter, is the first of its kind and will be known as a centre where rights will be preserved, promoted and protected. 

Rhoda who also performed the unveiling of the National plague, lauded the productive leadership style of FIDA Anambra Chairperson, Prof. Oguguo Ikpeze, stating that her efforts at uplifting the FIDA state chapter was visible to all.

She  also said the establishment of the center in Anambra was a clear statement of passion the state chapter has for the things of the association and enjoined other 27 branch leaders to borrow leaf to their respective branches.

“Since we came what we have seen show how passionate the Chairperson held FIDA Anambra. The new structure shows how passionate the state chapter has about FIDA Nigeria. 

“I came to Anambra in 2019 on one mission which was to restore peace to FIDA Anambra but ended up suspending six members of FIDA Anambra. I’m happy that my return to Anambra is to see a new Anambra FIDA restored, rebranded and in new shape.”

In her address, the Anambra State FIDA  Chapter Chairperson, Prof Oguguo V. C. Ikpeze, stated that the completion of the center was not an easy task. She praised the varying efforts of the members of FIDA Anambra, for which she said contributed to the success of the project. 

She recalled that the project had commenced on the 20th day of April, 2011, when FIDA Anambra was granted land courtesy of her applications. According to her, the foundation of the project was laid on the 23rd of June, same year by the then  Chief Judge of Anambra State, Hon. Justice P. A. C. Obidigwe.

Present at the event were former Minister for Women Affairs, Iyom Josephine Anenih, Deputy Country Vice President, Amina Agbaje, National Secretary FIDA, Evelyn Membere-Asimea, Hon justice Nkem Izuakor, Hon justice Vicky Nwoye, Chief Registrar of Anambra State, chinyere okoye, among others.
