Traditional medicine practitioners under the aegis of Nwanne-di-namba Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association, Umusiome Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State have invoked a dreaded deity, Oruru Eke Ekwulobia to kill a self-acclaimed pastor, Uchenna Chukwuma, for allegedly killing their member.
The 21-year-old cleric who hails from Amagunze, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, but resides at Ugwuezue Street, Umusiome Nkpor was said to have murdered a 60-year-old native doctor, Oliver Chukwudi Ugwu with matchet at Nkpor. The suspect who later claimed that he was sent by God to kill the victim who hailed from Umuavor Abor village, Udi in Enugu State told police interrogators that the deceased was tormenting him spiritually and frustrating his financial progress.
Reacting to the development, the native doctors in the area, led by the chief priest of Oruru Eke Ekwulobia deity, Chinedu Ezemeta and the chairman of the traditional medicine practitioners, Adichie Njegbu, invoked the deity to kill the pastor to avenge the cold-blooded murder of their member.
“Oruru Eke Ekwulobia, (deity) please ensure that Pastor Uchenna Chukwuma dies in police custody. He should not return. He killed our member, Oliver Chukwudi Ugwu who did no wrong to him. He must die and please endorse his death,” they declared before the deity.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Mohammed Haruna, confirmed the incident, adding that, “police detectives attached to Ogidi Division and led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr Ekuri Remigius, on storming the scene, rushed the victim who was in his pool of blood to Iyi-Enu hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the medical doctor.”
