CAN postpones 2020 Carol festival, thanksgiving in Anambra

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (Anambra Chapter) has announced the indefinite postponement of her annual carol festival, thanksgiving and award ceremony.
The state chairman, Mr. Nwabueze Nwokoye, who disclosed this in a press statement made available to Orient Weekend in Awka, the Anambra state capital, said the postponement was due to late withdrawal of sponsors/partners. He said other efforts to get alternative proved abortive, resulting in the postponement.
“Having been advised by the planning committee, and more so, with due consultation with the leadership of Yowican Anambra State, I humbly and regrettably wish to inform us that our 2020 Festival of Carols, Thanksgiving and Award Eve has been postponed indefinitely,” he said.
“The reason behind this decision was the late withdrawal of our partners and sponsors, and other efforts made to get alternative proved abortive. Alternatively, we intend to start paying Christmas carol visits to some important and deserving personalities and organisations, using our Yowican unity choir.
“Nevertheless, looking back between the end of COVID-19 lockdown and now, I am convinced that we have achieved a lot. Particularly, the inauguration of our 21 local government chapters and the attendance of South East Zonal Yowican Summit. There, I consider a great feat.
“As we trust God for a safe drive into the year, 2021, I encourage us to begin to work towards our leadership orientation and retreat for both state and local government Yowican executive members coming up early next year. I, hereby, direct the carol planning committee to take up the responsibilities of planning for the orientation and retreat,” the statement reads in part.
