CAF Disqualifies Chad over ‘political interference’
Nigeria neighbours, Chad, will not take part in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Cameroon in 2022.
This comes in the aftermath of CAF’s decision to disqualify the country from further participation in the qualifying series over what is thought to be ‘political interference’ in Chad domestic football.
CAF had last December 2020, CAF notified Chad of an impending sanction following reported interference by the Chadian political authorities in the management of local football.
Chadian Sports Minister Routouang Christina had definitively withdrawn the delegation of powers to the Chadian Football Federation since March 11, 2021.
Chad was in Group A of the ongoing qualifiers with Mali, Guinea and Namibia.
