Abia state government, through its Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, has recruited enumerators that would identify and collate data of all the small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) in the 17 local government areas of the state.
The enumerators are expected to capture and register SME’s in line with the World Bank programme on COVID-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus (CARES) on Result Area 3 for SMEs support, which is a partnership initiative with the Nigeria governor’s forum.
Onyema Wachuku, Commissioner for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, while inaugurating the enumerators at the state secretariat, Umuahia, urged them to be objective and honest during the exercise.
According to him, “It is a performance for result project, factored to enhance SMEs welfare during this pandemic.”
He, therefore, congratulated those nominated for the project, as they are going to be the fulcrum upon which Abia state’s disbursement linked indicator of area 3 will be anchored. He encouraged them to show commitment and avoid any misconduct that could hinder result oriented data collation.
