Buhari:Blems Health Workers Over Nigeria Medical Tourism
President Muhammadu Buhari says health workers’ hostility is pushing Nigerians to seek medical attention abroad instead of lack of equipment and poor infrastructure.
Buhari says the attitude of health workers has made it difficult for patients to be comfortable at health care facilities despite the availability of sophisticated equipment and well-qualified doctors.
He said this on Monday during the official commissioning of Muhammadu Buhari International Conference Centre and Telemedicine Hall and other projects at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The president, who was represented by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, blamed caregivers’ attitude for the loss of confidence by the end-users in the country’s health system.
He however stressed the need to pay attention to the improvement of staff harmony and welfare of the health workers.
