A member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, has appealed to the Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, to lift the suspension placed on 12 traditional rulers of the state in the spirit of Christmas.
Obiano had suspended the monarchs following their trip to Abuja to see President Muhammadu Buhari without authorisation from the state government.
Ezeonwuka said the governor should pardon them because; the suspension had served its purpose. He said: “As a true Christian and Papal Knight of St. Gregory the Great, it will only be ideal that the governor forgives the traditional rulers in the spirit of the yuletide.
“The Igbo believed that if you use the right hand to beat a child for an offense committed, you equally turn round to use the left hand to console him as the beating had served its purpose, which is bringing caution to the mind of the child.
“Let us use this opportunity to make it known to Christians generally that Christmas gifts would not only be about sharing money and clothes or bags of rice and cows, it also includes love, peacemaking and forgiveness. That is why I am asking the governor to forgive the traditional rulers and lift the suspension placed on them.”
