ANPC MD, Nnabuife to launch three books chronicling his journalistic career
By Chidex Onyemah
The managing director and chief executive officer of the Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation (ANPC), Chuka Nnabuife, has released three books, namely; Homeland Catalysis: More than just Anambra narratives; Mbize: Rage of Red Earth in Igbo Land and Nigeria Civil War (1967-1970): Hole in our bubbles.
He made the disclosure in a press briefing, held at the event Hall of the ANPC on Tuesday in respect of the official presentation of the three books, slated for April 24, 2021.
The three new books according to the author, appraise in various contexts, historically relevant events, personalities, socio-cultural and political developments, matters of governance and leadership as well as environmental issues.
“They contain critical discourses on salient issues that highpoint the last decade in Igbo land, Nigeria and Africa as unpredictable internal security issues, economic flip-flops, and combustive ethnic as well as religious issues. They are equally intellectual probes into matters of rural intervention grassroots developments in Anambra state as well as Igbo land in general,” Nnabuife said.
When asked by journalists, how he was able achieve the feat, with his busy schedule, the author said that every journalist writes books, whenever he/she publishes a story. It only depends on when such journalist decides to gather the stories to make a book.
In his words; “a journalist is already writing several books. It just depends on when you will sit down and gather them together. I have other things to do as well. Journalists are the ones called to do contemporary history which will become facts for historians, tomorrow.
“Interestingly, these three books are rooted in my journalism. The books on Nigeria-Biafra civil war, started from an interview conducted those days as an editor in NewsCompass with one of least mentioned generals of the war,” the author said.
Speaking on the expected guests for the official presentation and launching of the book, Chuka Nnabuife, disclosed that government and political actors from the state and neighbouring state will grace the occasion, academics and scholars from the several universities, journalists and other professionals will be invited.
“Some of the guber aspirants from the different political parties in Anambra state will also be coming, not in their campaign capacity but in their personal capacities. Knowing that this year is the election year of our state, there must be enough sensitisation so that the next decade, 2021-2030 will be better than the last, 2011-2020.
Giving his vote of thanks, the chairman of the book presentation planning committee and senior special assistant to the Anambra state governor on secondary education, Dr. Paul Ifeanyi, commended the journalists present at the event, stating that journalists are very powerful individuals in the society with the capacity to either make or mar anybody.
He lauded the author’s skills and intelligence, which, according to him, was visible in the books. “I have no other option than to submit to Chuka’s superiority. He can dance, sing, paint, draw, write etc. Though everyone has a talent Chuka’s, is just spectacular. These books are first hand and exclusive information. Though one of the books; ‘Mbize Rage of Red Earth in Igbo Land’, is a fiction I must say that fictions are revelations of reality” Ifeayi noted.
