In a bid to keep Anambra state the safest state in Nigeria, Anambra state police command, Thursday, brokered a partnership with Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council.

Speaking to over 200 journalists who came to welcome the CP and his entourage, CP Abang disclosed his passion to keep the streets of Anambra state free of crime and violence. He noted that this would encourage the vast number of Anambra citizens in diaspora to return home when they want, spend money and, thereby, develop their state.

Abang recalled that he hit the ground running when he was posted to Anambra and had kept his men on a daily raid. He enjoined journalists not to hesitate to record and send policemen who go off tangent from their official duties on the road.

“I appreciate how Anambra state journalists made viral (with) my first successes the first week I was in the state.  Anambra state remains one state with the highest number of citizens in diaspora. I want them to be coming back more frequently so as to increase the cash flow in the state.

“I kept my men on their toes raiding black spots across the state. I have also been visiting all sister agencies that have a stake in this fight against crime in the state and NUJ happens to be one vital such institution,” the CP said.

In response, the chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Comrade Sir Emma Ifesinachi, welcomed the CP and his entourage. He noted with gusto that the CP was making history as the first CP to visit the council. He assured the CP of the devotion of members of the union in reporting its activities as well as providing professional advice when necessary.

“The union has always been very eager to work with the police in its fight against crime. We want to commend your PPRO, Haruna Mohammed for keeping the press abreast of the activities of the command.

High points of the visit were the presentation of an award of recognition by the CP to the NUJ chairman, and the interactive session between the CP and members of the union drawn from various media houses, including Orient Daily, across the country.
