Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has condemned the attacks and killings of security personnel in his domain.

Governor Obiano, in an address made available to journalists  in Awka, the state capital, bemoaned the worsening security situation in the state, saying the government was doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

He described the killing of security personnel and the carting away of their weapons as “a planned and targeted attack” on security facilities by “armed hoodlums”.

The governor, who said the state would henceforth witness extensive security activities, stressed that all fitted tinted glasses on vehicles as well as covered plate numbers would no longer be allowed on all roads within the state.

According to him, security agencies will be conducting special and strategic operations aimed at neutralising the emerging threats to collective safety.

He said a police outpost was attacked unsuccessfully on Sunday morning as joint police, vigilante and community efforts repelled the attackers.

Meanwhile, Committee of Chairmen and Secretaries of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) branches in Anambra State will from today (Monday) boycott all courts to protest incessant killings in the state.
