The National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN) has declared that youths must be duly represented in the next government that will steer the ship of Anambra State at the expiration of Obiano’s occupancy of Agu Awka on March 17th, 2022.

The group made this declaration during its seminar on ‘Adverse Effects of Cultism, Drug Abuse and other Social Vices on Youths’ organised by Njikoka Chapter over the weekend at Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“We demand 50-50 inclusion in cabinet formation at all levels of Nigerian governments. We are going to start with the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State. We shall either support youth as a candidate or a youth-friendly candidate” the group said through the voice of its National Deputy Leader, Hon. Comr. Innocent N. Nduanya.

He added, “The time has gone when people over 40 years will be in charge of ministries and parastatal charged with youth affairs. It’s time to take back our country.”

Earlier on, Prof Walter Nwafia of Department of Medicine, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University(COOU), who was the guest lecturer for the seminar, expatiated on the reasons behind the growth of cultism and drug abuse in our society. Hammering on their adverse effects to both the individual and the society, he advised the youths to desist from such indulgence.

Speaking at the event also, Hon. Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma, a member representing the Njikoka I constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly observed that the seminar shouldn’t have come at a better time. He educated the youths on the medical importance of such drugs as heroin and Marijuana and noting that they become destructive when abused and used adversely.

“This event is timely and should not have come in a better time than this post-EndSARS period. God created these herbs to better the life of man on earth. A recent report states that Marijuana
helps in sight and today it’s used to produce drugs for that and so is Heroine which is used to produce anesthesia
used for the operation.”

Admonishing the youths, the legislator observed: “We are once youths. We understand your plight and the level of deprivation in the land. But that shouldn’t push us to resort to cultism and drug abuse. Let’s always make do with little we have and God will surely crown our efforts.”

The highlight of the occasion was the ceremony of awards mapped out by
the Host, Hon. Obinna Okechkwu, to appreciate the select-few that the organization considered to have done much in the area of youth empowerment and skills acquisition.

Dignitaries that graced the event include Hon. Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma,
