Amapakabo unsure of Wotlia’s red card genuinety
Imama Amapakabo, technical adviser of Abia Warriors says he is not certain about the red card issued to his player, Wotlia, during his side’s hard fought win against Rangers in a match day 10 fixture in Okigwe.
The controversial moment of the match came in the 58th minute when Wotlia was sent off for a reckless challenge on a Rangers’ player. The expulsion changed the dynamics of the game.
But despite the numerical disadvantage, Imama’s troops held out firmly to move within a point away from the relegation zone on the league standings.
Imama would later express uncertainty about the decision of the match official to send his player off, stating that the referee might have viewed the incident from another angle or based on what the player might have said.
“I didn’t really know what happened, because both players went in for the tackle and both players were down.
“I don’t know what ensured there. I can’t really explain, because I am still going to look into that incident and also ask the player (Wotlia) what happened.
“The next thing I saw from the referee was the red card, which is a bit complicated. Maybe the player must have said something or maybe the referee may have seen something different.
“So I think probably when I hear from the player himself (Wotlia), I will definitely know better”.
