Abia Warriors will prosecute their 2020/2021 NPFL home matches in Aba inside the Enyimba Stadium, Orient Sports has gathered.
This development means they will share same home ground with sister club and state rivals, Enyimba.
Checks reveal that following the inability of the League Management Company, LMC, organisers of the Nigeria domestic top flight, to approve Umuahia Township Stadium for the league games, Abia State Governor, Dr Victor Okezie Ikpeazu told reporters that the edifice in the state capital which hitherto serves as Abia Warriors home ground, would undergo rehabilitation.
Consequently, Warriors were directed by LMC to play their home games in Aba.
“Yes, we will be playing our home matches in Aba when the 2020/2021 NPFL season begins”, an official told Orient Sports without wanting to be named in print.
“Even LMC has written to us, asking us to use Aba Stadium as our home ground since the Umuahia Stadium was not granted approval for the season.
“That’s why we are more happier coming here for this tournament”.
However, after a hard earned 2-1 win against rookies, Ngwa United, in the match day five opening game on Thursday morning, coach Willy Udube told Orient Sports that they are 85% ready for the 2020/2021 NPFL season.
