147 Anglican Bishops storm Onitsha over church, state matters

About 147 Anglican Bishops thronged Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra state yesterday to deliberate various issues affecting the Church and the nation.
The Church Fathers and lay delegates who arrived Onitsha in a big convoy drove straight to the All Saints Cathedral Church in the town, the venue of the meeting where the Primate of the communion, His Grace, the Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba dedicated various structural projects.
Among the projects dedicated were the new Diocesan Secretariat, the Diocesan Events Centre, the Superannuation Office and a network of roads that traverses and links all units of the church area.
The four-day meeting holding under the umbrella of the Church of Nigeria Standing Committee is expected to deliberate on some current issues affecting the 21st century church and those impinging on the Anglican Church. They are also expected to attend to political, economic and security issues rocking the nation on which they are also expected to declare the stand of the church on the issues.
